NX1 Upgrade and NX2
NX1 Upgrade Specific Advantages
Front overhang and door system
The NX/Magic Floor lift is positioned behind the first step of the coach. The overall width of the lift being just under one metre, means that this can still be done utilising a single powered plug door. Because only the bridge plate of the lift passes through, the door only needs to be 850mm wide. This means that a single door with creative styling and no loss of aesthetic appeal can be used. Also the issues of sealing and noise problems associated with two doors is overcome.
A two-door solution will need a front overhang extension. The extension of the overhang will create fundamental grounding issues, and should be avoided at all costs.
Position of the Lift
The NX/ Magic Floor lift fits snugly behind the first step riser and tightly up to the chassis. Meaning that the lift is unseen in general use. The lift is in a sealed cassette box which means that any dirt, rain, mud etc, does not enter into the coach and drop onto the floor, or collected on clothing and luggage.
Also because of it's unobtrusive under floor position, there is no noise and rattles from the lift.
Lift Type
The NX Magic Floor lift is a hybrid of the highly successful PLS powermatic range of lifts. There are currently in excess of 10,000 operating worldwide. The lift has been updated to create a fully automatic operation completely from the driver's seat.
The lift benefits from twin arm operation, which overcomes the stability problems associated with single armed lifts. Twin stable automatic handrails are also a standard feature.
Retro-fits
Once the development of the slightly wider one-piece door, and the lowering of the first two metres of the saloon are carried out by the coach builder, the ability to retro-fit the PLS system can be done in a day, at half the current cost of a standard side mount retro-fit.
Lift Footprint
As the lift operates from the stepwell, the distance from the side of the coach to the step area, and then to the waiting wheelchair when the lift is deployed is at a minimum. This is particularly important due to the infrastructure at many locations making it difficult for the disabled to board.
Safety
The NX Magic Floor lift is at the forefront of safety, the bridge plate at the front of the lift always rises prior to the lift leaving the coach floor.
The roll-off ramp at the rear of the platform always rises prior to the lift leaving the ground. The height is a minimum of 150mm and is hydraulically operated making it extremely rigid when fully upright. Large, full height handrails are also fitted to both sides for total safety.
